This week we meet UI & UX Design Intern Marc Castellanos.

Marc, UI & UX Design Intern

Where are you from, and what brought you to Barcelona?

I’m a Visual and UX Designer. I’ve been living in Barcelona all my life, I love this city because it’s full of life and there’s plenty of things to do, wouldn’t change it for anything.

As for hobbies: Food, nature/outdoors, art, video games and I’m sure there are plenty more!

Why did you join Cien? What is it about the company’s vision, product and team that made you want to join Cien?

My University sent me a intern job office and the more I knew about Cien the more I liked it, I think the ideas in here are very cool and promising and the team is simply wonderful filled with amazing people with amazing skills

Describe your role in three words.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I do a lot of stuff in very different areas, I like keeping it varied and helps to keep the creativity up.

What have you learned since you’ve joined Cien?

Teamplay, it’s my first time in a startup, working with very different individuals and I feel like we complement each other pretty well. Quoting Hannibal Smith in A-Team “I love when a plan comes together”.

In your opinion, are the developments in  AI going to take our jobs?

On the long run maybe it will but manual jobs will be very valuable and art could gain importance. I feel like AI is going to be very important in our society, will improve our quality of life, but let’s try not to create HAL 9000.

How do you apply the Cien core values in your day to day work? (Great People = Great Product -Purpose and Urgency- Daily Excellence- Do the Right Thing – Work Hard and Play Harder)

I work in small cycles of think-make-check so we are constantly validating our work and trying to move as swiftly as possible.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
